ABSTRACT SUPERMARIO is a performance that I start doing in 1997. I show it for the very first time at the exhibition La Voie Lactee as proposed by the Purple Institute Alleged Gallery in the NYC. In this performance, the game becomes Abstract because I channeled it through a special effects console and turn it to pixels.
A year or two later, Purple Institute asked me to participate at the exhibition Elysian Fields which they were doing at the Pompidou Center in Paris and I invited Bjork to play Abstract Supermario. The fact that it was Bjork playing was supposed to be kept secret and occasionally a few people would actually realize that the cute girl who was playing was actually a media icon at least as well known as SuperMario himself. But that performance never happened for different reasons..
